Oprah Winfrey will be in Cobb and DeKalb Counties Thursday campaigning for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.
The Cobb County event is being held at the Cobb Civic Center and starts at 12:30 p.m. In DeKalb, Winfrey will then be joining Abrams at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center in Decatur at 4 p.m.
The media mogul will be joining Abrams for “a conversation on the critical value of women in leadership and what is at stake for our communities in the election," according to Abram's campaign website.
General public ticket reservations are now ongoing and will close at 5 p.m. today.
The most recent poll, conducted by Opinion Saavy for FOX 5, show the race as statistically even, which is in line with other recent polling.
Early voting numbers have already surpassed 1 million in Georgia, indicating the turnout is going to be much higher this year than in most statewide election years. President Donald Trump and Vice President Pence have come forward in the final days before the election to stump for Brian Kemp, while former President Barack Obama will campaign this weekend for Abrams.
According to the website www.Georgiapol.com, which covers Georgia politics, Winfrey rarely stumps for candidates. In fact, the last time she campaigned for anyone, it was for then-Senator Obama.
