The prep basketball season continues to push on for local programs, with the state playoffs beginning in less than a month.

Wesleyan’s girls’ team stayed undefeated on the season with a 59-38 non-region win over North Cobb at the Krossover Classic in Lawrenceville Jan. 12. A.C. Carter had a season-high 27 points and Nicole Azar scored 22 points in the victory. The Wolves’ boys’ team picked up a non-region win at Tallulah Falls 67-58 Jan. 12, led by a team-high 26 points from J.D. Kavel, 16 points from Jalen Fulwood and Micah Smith’s 10 points. Wesleyan returns to region play Jan. 25 at Mount Vernon Presbyterian.

The Mustangs’ boys’ team fell at Holy Innocents’ 70-57 in region play Jan. 15. Mount Vernon’s girls’ squad dropped its game against the Golden Bears 82-15 the same day.

Holy Innocents’ saw its teams sweep Lovett in non-region action Jan. 16. The Golden Bears’ girls’ team earned a 69-45 victory led by a team-high 22 points from Jillian Hollingshead, Marya Hudgins’ 14 points and Rachel Suttle’s 10. The boys’ contest went the Golden Bears’ way 64-60 with Justin Wilson scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Devin Farrell scored 14 with three steals, Garrison Powell and Alex Hyatt each had 10 points and Chance Moore notched a team-high 10 rebounds and two blocked shots in the victory. Holy Innocents’ hosts Atlanta International School in region play Jan. 25. Lovett visits Cedar Grove in its region play Tuesday.

Pace’s boys’ team defeated Stone Mountain at home 66-36 in region action Jan. 15. The Knights’ girls’ squad improved to 7-1 in region play with its 52-27 win over the Pirates the same day. Pace hosts region foe Westminster Jan. 25.

The Wildcats’ girls’ team will look to rebound from a 41-31 region home defeat to Redan Jan. 15. Westminster’s boys’ team picked up a 76-61 win over the Raiders the same day.

Atlanta International’s girls’ team defeated Mohammed Schools of Atlanta 55-20 in region play Jan. 15, led by a team-high 15 points from Uni Wooldridge and Mina Loudermilk’s 12 points. The Eagles visit Atlanta Classical in region action Tuesday.

Galloway’s boys’ team defeated region foe Weber at home 81-42 Jan. 15, led by a team-high 27 points and 10 rebounds from Anthony Arrington for a double-double. Connor Hay posted 15 points and five assists while Wyatt Duncan scored 11 with three steals in the victory for the Scots. Galloway’s girls’ team fell at home to Riverwood 41-37 in non-region play the same day.

“We’re a young team and knew that coming into the year,” Scots girls head coach Kiesha Brown said. “Our bench players from last season are now starters and we now have five freshman as reserves. Seven of our losses have come by four points or less, so we’re looking at that wall to overcome.”

The Scots host Wesleyan in region play Tuesday.

Riverwood’s boys’ team defeated Banneker on the road in region action Jan. 12. Nathan Henderson had a team-high 15 points, Jared Nails posted 13 points and Davis Herndon had 12 for the Raiders in the victory. Riverwood hosts Grady in region play Jan. 25.

The North Springs boys’ team dropped its region road contest to Lithia Springs Jan. 15, despite a team-high 14 points and nine rebounds from Levi Santiful, 12 points and five rebounds from Leo Sachs, Paris Crawford’s nine points and Alonzo Bacon’s eight points and six rebounds. The Spartans’ girls’ squad fell the same day to the Lions 57-21. North Springs visits Decatur in region action Jan. 25.

The North Atlanta boys’ team improved to 9-1 in region play with a 66-58 region home win over Dunwoody Jan. 15. The Warriors’ girls’ team will look to rebound from its loss to the Tigers 49-28 the same day. North Atlanta hosts Centennial in region play Jan. 25.

Whitefield saw its boys’ team earn a 56-55 region road win at Mount Pisgah Christian Jan. 15. The WolfPack girls’ team fell to the Patriots 52-39 the same day. Whitefield visits region foe King’s Ridge Jan. 26.

Holy Spirit Prep boys’ team earned an 85-39 region road win over Dominion Christian Jan. 15. The Cougars’ girls’ squad was also victorious the same day against Dominion 61-36. Holy Spirit hosts Heritage Jan. 25.

Other local matchups Jan. 25 include Marist visiting Flowery Branch, St. Pius X hosting Oconee County and Woodward visiting North Clayton.
