Anthony Edwards of Holy Spirit Preparatory joined the ranks of high school basketball’s elite, and he was selected to the prestigious 2019 McDonald’s All-American Boys East Team. He is the only player from Georgia to receive the honor this year.
Edwards was awarded his special All-American Games jersey from McDonald’s and Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities representatives at his school’s assembly ceremony.
Edwards now ranks among an impressive list of notable basketball players who have also donned the McDonald’s All American jersey including: Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, James Harden, Candace Parker, Maya Moore, Elena Delle Donne, Skylar Diggins and Breanna Stewart.
He will play alongside 23 other top male high school basketball players from throughout the U.S. in the 42nd McDonald’s All-American Games, which will be broadcast live from Atlanta’s State Farm Arena March 27 on ESPN2. The girls' game starts at 5 p.m., and the boys' game will follow at 7 p.m. Tickets are now available through Ticketmaster or the State Farm Arena box office.
