Pace Academy senior star basketball player Wendell Carter, who last month was chosen to the 2017 McDonald’s All-America boys’ team, was honored during a special jersey presentation, award ceremony and press conference Jan. 26 at the Buckhead school. For the second year in a row, McDonald’s All-American Hometown Heroes presented by American Family Insurance will traverse the country recognizing the 24 boys selected to play in the 40th annual McDonald’s All-American boys’ game. New for this year, the 24 girls selected to play in the 16th annual McDonald’s All-American girls’ game will also be recognized. A similar event took place at the school of each player selected to the teams. Both games will take place March 29 at the United Center in Chicago. Carter, a 6-foot, 9-inch, 254-pound power forward, has signed to play for Duke next season.
