The Atlanta Police Department is seeking the public’s help in finding the driver of a car that over the weekend ran over and killed a pedestrian lying on Roswell Road in Buckhead and then left the scene.

According to the police’s preliminary report, May 13 at about 12:10 a.m., the police responded to a pedestrian accident at the intersection of Roswell Road and Ivy Chase Way NE near Johnny’s Hideaway, a dance club. For years individuals going to the club who parked across Roswell Road from Johnny’s had jaywalked across the busy street before a crosswalk was added recently when a traffic light was installed at the Ivy Parkway intersection.

“Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male victim in the roadway,” the report stated. “At this time, it appears the victim fell into the northbound lanes of travel on Roswell Road and was struck by a dark sedan. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene. Investigators are working to locate the driver. The investigation continues.”

The victim was not identified by police.

Anyone with information on the driver is asked to contact CrimeStoppers by calling or texting 404-577-8477 or visiting Tips can be left anonymously.
