With no suspect identified or arrested yet in a month-old Buckhead hit-and-run case, the Atlanta Police Department has released a video and some new information on it in the hopes of getting new leads.

According to a police report, May 13 at about 12:10 a.m., the police responded to a pedestrian accident at the intersection of Roswell Road and Ivy Chase Way NE near Johnny’s Hideaway, a dance club, where Buckhead resident Robert Bowden was run over by a car and died.

According to an updated police report, a witness saw Bowden, who appeared to be drunk, try to cross Roswell Road when he fell into the second northbound lane.

“The pedestrian wore non-reflective clothing (white T-shirt and khaki shorts),” the report stated. “Video surveillance showed Mr. Bowden swaying and staggering as he walked in a parking lot toward the roadway. Mr. Bowden then walked into the roadway and was nearly struck by a light-in-color sedan. Mr. Bowden then fell to the ground. Moments later, Mr. Bowden was struck by a red Jeep. The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian did not remain at the scene and remains at large. The collision occurred in an area with ambient lighting by working street lights. Sidewalks and crosswalks were accessible.”

The police originally stated the vehicle that struck Bowden was a dark-colored sedan before determining it was a red SUV, possibly a Jeep Wrangler. The police also released some video surveillance footage from the night of the incident in hopes of identifying and arresting the driver (visit https://youtu.be/Z1I27QPuZRM to view it).

For years individuals going to the club who parked across Roswell Road from Johnny’s had jaywalked across the busy street before a crosswalk was added recently when a traffic light was installed at the Ivy Parkway intersection.

Anyone with information on the driver is asked to contact CrimeStoppers by calling or texting 404-577-8477 or visiting http://bit.ly/2F51Cns. Tips can be left anonymously, and the police are offering a reward of up to $2,000 for the arrest and indictment of the suspect.
