The Atlanta Police Department is investigating a shooting at a Buckhead event venue that left one man dead.

According to a statement released by the police, officers responded to a 911 call Friday at 1:37 a.m. about an individual being shot at Level V, an event space located at 2101 Tula St. in Buckhead.

“Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound,” the police stated. “The victim was transported to Grady (Memorial) Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from the injuries he sustained. Preliminary information shows that the shooting was possibly the result of an altercation that started inside the club.

“At this time, it does not appear that the victim was involved in that altercation. Investigators are working to identify witnesses and locate surveillance video. The Atlanta Police Department will be reviewing the club’s permits and meeting with management to ensure compliance with all applicable laws. The investigation continues.”

The victim has not been identified yet because his next of kin has not been notified yet, the Fulton County medical examiner's office said.

In an updated statement, the police stated it is seeking the public’s help to identify the suspect and a person of interest in the case.

“The suspect (is described as a) black male with a light complexion, 6-2 in height, wearing a red bandana tied around his leg and a white shirt. Witnesses advised it was’ open mic’ night at the club and the shooter was one of the performers. The suspect vehicle is a black Nissan Versa.”
