Three candidates have qualified so far for the Atlanta City Council’s District 3 special election, which is set for March 19. The election is needed to fill the seat after Councilman Ivory Lee Young Jr., 56, died of cancer in November.
The candidates include Young’s widow, Shalise Young, who last week announced in a news release she would run, plus Greg Clay and Matthew Charles Cardinale.
Qualifying started Wednesday and will continue Thursday and Friday, each day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The qualifying fee is $1,809. A special runoff election, if needed, will be held April 16.
