library renovations Gabriel Morley Al Collins

From left, Atlanta-Fulton Library System Director Gabriel Morley, Ph.D., and Al Collins with the Fulton County Department of Real Estate and Asset Management look over plans for the system’s Library Renovation Project.

In a message posted to its website last month, the Atlanta-Fulton County Library System gave an update on when each library undergoing or scheduled for renovation will reopen or close when the work is completed or started, respectively.

That list includes the three local library branches. The Buckhead and Northside libraries are expected to temporarily close for redevelopment starting May 6 and May 20, respectively. The Buckhead branch hosted a meeting on its project Feb. 7, and the Northside one will hold a similar meeting Feb. 19 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The Sandy Springs Library, which closed for renovations Aug. 8, is supposed to reopen March 21. That library underwent roof repairs, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, exterior painting, brick repairs, tree removal and fencing improvements from April to August before its building closed for internal work.
