One local school and students from three local schools placed in the 2019 Georgia High School Association Literary State Championships in March at Buford, Houston County, Veterans high schools and Georgia Military College.

In the Class A-Private competition, Wesleyan, which had 17 points, placed second to Lakeview, which had 39. Wesleyan's Adam Rogers, Tyler Sturtevant, Gian Luca Di Lenardo and Jared Wildermuth formed the foursome that won the the quartet competition. Rogers placed second in the boys' solo contest, and he and Strurtevant teamed up to finish third in the oral interpretation, duo category. Also, Constance Harris placed third in the oral interpretation, dramatic competition.

Pace and Marist didn't place in the top four in the team standings in Classes AAA and AAAA, respectively, but two of their students placed in their individual contests.

Pace's Grace Pottorff won the girls' solo competition, and Davis Mathis finished fourth in the essay, personal contest.

Marist's Lauren Jennings won the essay, personal contest and Jenna Monnin finished third in the essay, rhetorical division.
