A local French bistro has postponed to 2020 its fundraiser for restaurant industry workers in distress but still plans to host a party to celebrate Bastille Day, France’s independence day.

Last month The Industry Fund, Le Bilboquet Atlanta and The Shops Buckhead Atlanta announced plans to co-host the third annual Waiters’ Race Atlanta July 14 at Center Plaza at The Shops. This year’s race was to cap off a day that will include a free summer block party and center-wide attractions from 3 to 6 p.m.

The Industry Fund is a new, local nonprofit founded by members of the hospitality community specifically to benefit other members of the industry during their time of need. The 2019 event was also to benefit The Giving Kitchen, an Atlanta-based nonprofit that supports area restaurant workers facing an unanticipated crisis.

While the block party is still on, the Waiters’ Race is not.

“Due to unavoidable circumstances, the Waiters’ Race will be postponed until the summer of 2020,” the race’s co-hosts said in a statement.

The block party will include live entertainment, outdoor cocktail bars, food tasting stations, a flower cart, children’s games and a bocce court. In addition, The Shops retailers will be offering exclusive experiences, amenities and promotions during the event.
