The Arts Program at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Buckhead will host its fall kickoff worship Sept. 10 with mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton, a Georgia native, performing at its 8:45 and 11:15 a.m. services.

Barton is a gifted artist and recent winner of the Beverly Sills Artist Award, given by the Metropolitan Opera in New York. In her young career, she has won opera’s most prestigious prizes, including the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World and the Richard Tucker Award.

Barton regularly performs at the Met, and she’ll sing at the church soon after performing at Tanglewood in Massachusetts with Yo-Yo Ma and Emanuel Ax. Still approachable and delightful, she has achieved great success at a young age.

Barton also will perform with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in November for Verdi's “Requiem.”
