Fellowship Christian’s home tilt against Walker in a Region 6A contest highlights the prep football docket for local programs on Sept. 7.
The Paladins stayed undefeated on the season and also picked up its first win in region action with a 48-30 road win at Pinecrest Academy on Aug. 24. Brooks Bryant threw for 152 yards and had two touchdowns, one passing and one rushing, in the victory. Murphy Reeves rushed for 142 yards and Cam Gill had 69 yards on the ground for the Paladins. Defensively, William Kreikemeier had nine tackles, a sack and a forced fumble for Fellowship.
“The keys were to establish the running game and finish drives,” Paladins’ head coach Al Morrell said. “Our defense played an outstanding second half.”
Mount Pisgah Christian looks to stay undefeated in Region 6A when its hosts Whitefield Academy on Friday. The Patriots earned their first win of the season with a 37-28 road win at St. Francis on Aug. 31 in a region contest. After enduring a six-game losing streak to Whitefield to start its lifetime series, Mount Pisgah has won the past five contests between the two teams including a 35-7 victory last season.
St. Francis seeks its first win of the season on Friday when it visits Lakeview Academy in its final non-region contest of the season. The two teams have split their first four meetings of the season with the Lions winning last year’s contest 27-7.
Roswell looks to stay undefeated on the season when it visits West Forsyth on Friday. The Hornets improved their record to 2-0 with a 40-21 home win over Centennial on Aug. 31. Roswell quarterback Ethan Roberts threw for a team-high 255 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. John Copenhaver caught six passes for a game-high 203 yards and two touchdowns while teammate Jacob Jarrett had a 43-yard TD reception for Roswell. Kamonty Jett rushed for a game-high 120 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Defensively, Sam Antona posted a team-high 12 tackles for the Hornets while Will Troutman and Doneiko Slaughter had 11 tackles. Tyron Hopper, John DiRoberto and Slaughter each had an interception. Roswell and West Forsyth have split their previous two lifetime meetings.
Centennial seeks its first win of the season on Friday when it hosts Pope in a Region 7AAAAAA contest. Max Brosmer threw for a game-high 405 yards and three touchdowns, two to Julian Nixon and one to Freddy Fairley, for the Knights in the Roswell defeat. Rekevian Mathis had a team-high 105 receiving yards on nine catches for Centennial as well. The Knights lead the lifetime series against Pope 5-3 and won last year’s game 45-17.
Blessed Trinity looks to stay undefeated on the season as it hosts Benedictine on Friday. The Titans extended their winning streak to nine games with a 43-21 road win at Woodward Academy on Aug. 7. Steele Chambers rushed for a team-high 179 yards and four touchdowns while teammate Ryan Davis had a team-high 94 receiving yards in the victory. Defensively, JD Bertrand posted a team-high 10 tackles and two sacks while JR Bivens had six stops for the Titans. Jake Smith had an interception and Chambers got a sack as well. Blessed Trinity has won both of its previous two meetings against Benedictine.]
Cambridge looks for its first win of the year as it visits Dunwoody in its Region 7AAAAAA opener on Friday. The Bears dropped its last contest with their 37-17 home defeat to Woodstock on Aug. 31. Cambridge has won its previous two meeting against Dunwoody including a 38-16 victory last season.
Staying in Region 7AAAAAA, Chattahoochee returns to action on Friday after an off week and hosts Northview seeking its first win of 2018. Northview dropped its road contest to North Forsyth 42-21 on Aug. 31. The Cougars lead the lifetime series over the Titans 8-4 including last year’s 50-28 victory.
Other matchups of interest on Friday include Denmark visiting Forsyth Central and Johns Creek visiting North Atlanta.
Alpharetta earned a 14-9 road victory at Lanier on Aug. 31 for its first win of the season. Bradley Rowlinson and Kevin Watkins each had a rushing touchdown in the win for the Raiders. Jordan Leslie had a team-high 14 tackles for Alpharetta’s defense while Jared Rumph grabbed an interception. The Raiders are off this week.
Milton stayed undefeated on the season with a 42-17 home win over Cardinal Gibbons (FL) on Aug. 31. Josh Edwards had a game-high 79 rushing yards and four touchdowns for the Eagles in the victory. Milton quarterback Jordan Yates threw for 243 yards and connected with Jordan Cox on a touchdown pass. Cox had a game-high 97 yards on three catches. The Eagles are off this week.
King’s Ridge fell at home to Providence Christian 14-9 on Aug. 31. The Tigers are off this week.
