With school out for the summer, North Fulton drivers can expect roadwork. Below are north Fulton roads that will be undergoing construction or closures this summer.
AlpharettaRucker Road will be closed through August 10 to allow for major construction this summer. The road will be closed from the Alpharetta city limits near Houze Road / SR 140 to Wills Road. The city will be replacing the bridge, constructing roundabouts in two locations and rebuilding much of the road as part of a $18.5 million improvement project.
Only residents who live within the closure area will be able to access the impacted sections of the road. Motorists who use Rucker Road are encouraged to instead detour down Houze Road / SR 140 to Hembree Road to State Route 9. Roswell’s portion of Rucker Road is included in the project.
RoswellA turn lane project will add a new right turn lane for cars turning right onto Highway 92 from Bowen Road and extend the existing left turn lane for drivers turning onto Southbound Bowen Road from Highway 92. Drivers should decrease speeds and use caution when passing through this zone. The project is projected to be completed this summer.
Birmingham Road will be closed through August 1, to remove the bridge and install a box culvert that allows water to flow underneath the road. The project will provide for a wider and safer path for motorists and area school buses. The road is projected to reopen on Aug. 1, depending upon the weather.
