After continuing to lead Reinhardt' University's sports medicine and mentor its young training staff in the department, Ashley Wolary was chosen as the 2020-21 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Athletic Trainer of the Year.

The award was voted and selected by the athletic directors of the AAC.

"I am very appreciative of the recognition by the conference," Wolary said in a statement. "I have learned so much this year from all the athletic directors, the Commissioner and the other athletic trainers that I served with. I couldn't have done what I did this year without my staff – they are the superheroes in my mind.

"I am honored to share the accolades with Coach Popp as AD of the Year. He has been a tremendous mentor for me this year."

Wolary joined the Eagle Athletics leadership team and was instrumental on Reinhardt's campus as a member of the front-line COVID response team. She also served in a similar roll with the AAC COVID team.

"Ashley has been instrumental in the success of the department and of our students on the field as well as off the field," Vice President for Athletics and Athletic Director Bill Popp said. "She is a person of strong character and has great judgment in the face of adversity; and is trusted with the care of a large student-athlete population."
