HOLLY SPRINGS — With only three commissioners present at the Thursday meeting of the Holly Springs Planning and Zoning Commission, members recommended approval of a mix of 89 townhouses and single family homes and permits for an auto-service shop and a massage therapy business.
Doug Patten approached the commission on behalf of the applicant, Little River Development Inc. to introduce the council to the updated plan for a total of 89 town homes and single family homes off of Marble Quarry Road. The plan requires a commission recommendation and Council vote on the annexation of 5 acres and the rezoning of 11 acres.
The plan includes two strips of development, the northern portion housing 65 townhomes and the southern end including 24 detached single-family homes.
Neighbors of the property came out in opposition with comments regarding traffic, road conditions, complaints of too much development and the development being “out of character for the area.”
Commissioners Eric Rein, Adrian Dekker and John Wiegand unanimously voted to recommend approval of the development.
Other items recommended for approval include the conditional use permit for an Express Oil Change and Tire Engineer next to the the, under construction, O’Reilly Auto parts on Holly Springs Parkway and the conditional use permit for a neuro-muscular and sports therapy business in the Mountain Brook Offices also located on Holly Springs Parkway. Commissioners voted unanimously to recommend approval of both items.
The next step for all of these items is a vote from City Council.
The next City Council meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Aug. 19 at 3235 Holly Springs Parkway.
