Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy’s (ELCA) home tilt against Strong Rock Christian leads the prep football schedule for local programs this weekend.

The Chargers extended their winning streak to 29 games with a 76-6 region home victory over Our Lady of Mercy in Region 5A action on Oct. 6. Brayden Rush completed six out of eight passes for 99 yards and three touchdowns, two to Sean Queen and one to Jordan Jakes, who had 102 receiving yards. Josh Mays, Keaton Mitchell and Josh Rogers each had two rushing touchdowns. Khalid Hood scored three totals touchdowns on returns of a kickoff, punt and fumble. George Stockey had a team-high nine tackles and Harrison Taylor posted seven stops for the ELCA defense.

Strong Rock Christian also won a Region 5A contest on Oct. 6, defeating Holy Innocents’ 38-28 in a home contest. Demetrius Knight rushed for a team-high 212 yards and three touchdowns while teammate Jaylen Blackwell posted 100 rushing yards and a TD on the ground as well in the win. Cody Adams had a team-high 11 tackles while Cameron Brooks and Jay Ward each had nine tackles for the Patriots’ defense. Trey Donaldson intercepted a pass.

Moving to Region 4AAAAA, Union Grove will host Dutchtown on Friday.

The Wolverines earned a 7-6 region home win over Hampton on Oct. 6. Michael Reece’s touchdown run proved to be the game-winner and teammate Keyon Carter rushed for a team-high 60 yards. Defensively, Keyon Smothers had a team-high 11 tackles. Chayton Strickland and Hunter Martin had 10 tackles each.

Hampton’s Kelvin Highter had a game-high 162 rushing yards in the loss and Traylan Jones had a rushing TD. Joshua Menager had a game-high 15 tackles for the Hornets’ defense.

Dutchtown earned a region home win of its own on Oct. 6 when it defeated Locust Grove 24-20. Dutchtown leads the lifetime series over Union Grove 4-1 including last year’s 56-7 victory.

The Wildcats look to rebound with a region road contest at Eagle’s Landing High School.

Locust Grove’s RJ McDaniel threw for a team-high 204 yards and two touchdowns to Billy Ward in the Dutchtown loss. Ward finished the night with a team-high 105 receiving yards while teammate Cade Powell rushed for a team-high 66 yards.

Eagle’s Landing HS also comes off of a region loss with a 31-13 defeat at Ola on Oct. 6. Justin Robertson and Emanuel Stores each had a rushing touchdown in the loss for the Eagles. Cameron Younginer had a team-high 15 tackles for the Eagle’s Landing HS defense.

Locust Grove leads the lifetime series over Eagle’s Landing HS 6-1, including last year’s 25-20 victory.

Ola looks to move up the region standings with a home contest against Jones County on Oct. 20. Chris Rodriguez rushed for a game-high 306 yards and three touchdowns for the Mustangs in the Eagle’s Landing HS win. Logan Powell led Ola’s defense with 12 tackles in the victory. The Mustangs have dropped its previous three meetings to Jones County, including last year’s 24-21 defeat.

Stockbridge looks to stay atop the Region 4AAAAA standings with a road game at Hampton on Friday. The Tigers stayed undefeated through six games with a 37-14 region road win at Woodland on Oct. 6. After trailing 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, Stockbridge scored 24 unanswered points in the second quarter to take control of the contest. Gabe McKenzie threw for a game-high 141 yards and two touchdown passes to Marquez Ezzard in the victory. BJ Riley had two rushing touchdowns and Steven Bonner had a TD on the ground as well for the Tigers. Defensively, Michael Price had nine tackles and Nasir Greer had eight stops for Stockbridge’s defense. Price also intercepted a pass.

Stockbridge won its lone lifetime meeting against Hampton 50-15 last season.

Luella picked up its first win of the season with a 40-36 road win over Druid Hills in Region 4AAAA action on Oct. 6. Latrell Murray rushed for a team-high 222 yards and four touchdowns in the victory. Dejon Conway rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown as well for the Lions.

Luella hosts Woodward Academy in a region game on Friday. The Lions dropped the lone lifetime meeting between the schools 56-0 last season.

Henry County High School visits Druid Hills in a region contest on Friday. The Warhawks dropped their region game at Eastside 52-21 on Oct. 6. Jaylon West threw for a game-high 252 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.

Henry County HS lost last season’s game to Druid Hills 36-35 in the lone lifetime meeting of the two programs.

Woodland is off this week.
