Marist’s road tilt against Blessed Trinity in a Region 7AAAA tilt leads the prep football schedule for local programs this weekend.

The War Eagles stayed undefeated through its first six games of the season with a 39-14 non-region home win over Gainesville on Sept. 29. Charlie Addicks rushed for a team-high 61 yards and a touchdown in the win. Chase Abshier and Ellis Pearson also had rushing TDs. Abshier threw two touchdown passes, one each to Dean Johnson and Addicks. Adam Pozzobon recovered a fumble in the end zone for a Marist touchdown as well.

Blessed Trinity has also won six games this season including a 50-14 region home win over White County on Oct. 6. Jake Smith threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Elijah Green rushed for a team-high 122 yards and touchdown for the Titans’ offense while teammate Steele Chambers rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns. JR Bivens and Raleigh Barden each had five tackles and Grayson Gilder intercepted a pass for Blessed Trinity’s defense.

Cedar Grove looks to maintain first place in the Region 5AAA standings on Saturday when it faces Stone Mountain. The Saints stayed undefeated through its first six games with a 34-0 region win over Towers on Oct. 6. Devon Barnes threw a touchdown pass while Darrell Neal rushed for 93 yards and a TD on seven carries. Roderic Forts returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown. Stone Mountain looks to rebound from its 50-0 region home loss to Lovett the same day. Cedar Grove leads the lifetime series over the Pirates 12-5 including last year’s 55-0 victory.

Moving to Region 5AAAAA, Arabia Mountain faces Chamblee to stay in the top half of the standings. The Rams earned a 36-28 region win over Miller Grove on Oct. 6 behind the efforts of quarterback Bryson Williams who threw for 275 yards and four touchdowns in the victory. He also rushed for a team-high 57 yards and a touchdown. Silas Butler had three touchdown catches and a team-high 103 receiving yards and teammate Tyler Suber had a TD reception as well. D’Anthony Garrett had a team-high seven tackles and Butler intercepted a pass for Arabia Mountain’s defense. Chamblee dropped its contest on Oct. 6 against Southwest DeKalb 55-8. Arabia Mountain has won its previous four meetings against Chamblee including last year’s 47-8 victory.

Miller Grove will face Columbia on Friday in a region game. Jamaal Roach had three total touchdowns, two passing and one rushing, for the Wolverines in the loss to Arabia Mountain. Geon Floyd also had an 80-yard kickoff return for Miller Grove. The Wolverines trail the lifetime series to Columbia 2-1 but won last year’s game 30-14.

SW DeKalb faces Lithonia on Friday in a region contest. The Bulldogs dropped their region road contest at Columbia 26-7 on Oct. 6, with their lone score coming on a 94-yard touchdown catch by Keveh Brantly from Forday Tarawally. The Panthers hold a 13-2 lifetime series lead over Lithonia including last year’s 33-21 victory, extending its winning streak in the series to six games.

Redan picked up its first win in Region 5AAA play on Oct. 7 with a 13-7 victory over McNair. The Raiders face Towers on Friday in another region tilt. Redan leads the lifetime series 3-2 but lost last year’s game 18-14.

Decatur earned its second win in Region 6AAAAA play on Oct. 6 with a 14-12 victory over Riverwood. The Bulldogs host Lithia Springs in a region contest on Friday. Decatur lost last year’s game 14-7 in the lone lifetime meeting of the two teams.

St. Pius X earned its first win of 2017 on Oct. 6, defeating Stephens County 27-13 in a Region 8AAAA road contest. The Golden Lions host Jefferson in a region game on Friday. St. Pius X lost last season’s contest 24-0 in the first lifetime meeting of the two programs.

Cross Keys visits Glascock County on Friday. The Indians fell at North Springs 88-0 on Oct. 6. The Panthers won last year’s game 48-20 against Cross Keys in the lone lifetime meeting of the two programs.

Other contests this weekend include Stephenson visiting Mt. Zion, Druid Hills hosting Centennial and Dunwoody visiting Centennial.
