The Fulton County Board of Education will announce the finalist for its new district superintendent April 17 at noon at Fulton County Schools' North Learning Center in Sandy Springs.

According to a news release, as prescribed by Georgia law, the school board must give a minimum of 14 days for public input on a finalist for the position of superintendent. The board would like the community, principals, teachers, staff, parents and students to meet the finalist and have the opportunity to hear from him or her about his or her vision for the district. It believes this is important to provide time for the community to ask their questions and interact with the candidate personally before making a final vote.

Cindy Loe, Ph.D., has been serving as the district's interim superintendent since January. She replaced Jeff Rose, Ed.D., who Oct. 25 announced his resignation, effective Dec. 31, for personal reasons.

The superintendent finalist will be available to meet and greet the public at three other times this week:

April 17 at 6:30 p.m.: Roswell High School's auditorium, 11595 King Road in Roswell

April 18 at 7 p.m.: Westlake High School's cafeteria, 2400 Union Road SW in Atlanta

April 19 at 10:30 a.m.: Centennial High School's auditorium, 9310 Scott Road in Roswell
