AUBURN — Quarterback Bo Nix did not rule out the possibility that he won't be returning to Auburn next year.
The junior was asked about his plans for the 2022 season during his weekly appearance on The Next Round radio show.
"Well, it’s definitely my school," Nix said regarding Auburn. "I’m graduating in a couple of weeks. I’m graduating in three years. That was my goal coming in, so Auburn is definitely my school. I think it will always be my school. But obviously right now I’m just trying to get healthy. I’m not sure what next year looks like. I've got to get my ankle better first. I've got to make sure that I can play and get back to my normal self. And then obviously I’ll graduate. Get through the bowl game."
Nix said a lot of juniors, as well as seniors with a COVID-caused extra year of eligibility, are weighing their options. When asked what the biggest factor is in his decision-making, Nix said his ultimate goal is to play in the NFL someday.
"Depending on that, obviously that’s got a lot to do with it — moving on in the future,” Nix said. "Then looking back, we’ll just see what’s going on, what has changed and then make a decision from there."
The three-year starter added that he hasn't made a decision yet and that it takes time. Nix broke his ankle in the third quarter of Auburn's 43-34 loss to Mississippi State and missed the final game of the regular season.
