Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office

A 27-year-old Orangeburg man is undergoing treatment after suffering a gunshot wound to his head on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened just before 4 p.m.

Medical staff at the Regional Medical Center told deputies that the wound was likely a graze from a bullet.

The man’s girlfriend told deputies that while she was working at the Bojangles drive-through, connected to the Shell gas station on Chestnut Street, the man drove up and told her someone shot him.

She said that’s when they immediately drove to RMC.

Deputies noticed a single bullet hole in the top edge of the driver’s window.

The man told deputies that he took his friend to use a phone and that someone came out and shot him, the incident report states.

He could not tell deputies where the shooting took place, the report continues.

“He stated that he did not wish to speak any further” with law enforcement, a deputy wrote in his report.

The case remains under investigation.

In an unrelated case, a Hodges Drive man called deputies just moments after he discovered that someone stole his vehicle on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The man told deputies that he left the keys inside of the 2003 black Chevrolet Suburban so his mother could pick up the vehicle.

When he discovered the vehicle missing, he called his mother to be sure she’d picked it up.

She told him she hadn’t.

The vehicle has dark tinted windows, barn doors in the back, all terrain tires, a blue Charleston sticker on the right window and a Felton College honor bumper sticker on the left bumper.

The man told deputies that someone gained entry to a 2001 maroon Chevrolet Silverado, which was also parked in the yard. He said nothing was stolen from that vehicle.

The value of the stolen vehicle is $10,000.
