Decatur’s home contest against Grady in a Region 6AAAAA contest on Friday highlights the local prep basketball action this upcoming week.

The Bulldogs earned a 59-46 neutral site win over Spalding on Dec. 30 at the Chuck Miller Classic. Chalin Hippe had a team-high 17 points while Israel Cobb (12 points) and Khari Davis (10 points) also scored in double figures. Cobb also had a team-high nine rebounds while Travon Smith dished out a team-high eight assists.

Decatur dropped their first contest to Grady earlier this season 67-45 on Nov. 28 despite a game-high 18 points and four assists from Smith and 10 points from Hippe. Jermontae Hill posted 17 points for the Knights in the contest.

The Bulldogs’ girls team also faces Grady on Friday. Decatur will look to rebound from its 53-42 non-region loss to Jonesboro on Dec. 29. The Bulldogs have won its first five region games including a 66-36 road win at Grady on Nov. 28 led by a team-high 19 points from Olivia Stephenson, 13 points from Alia Bolden and 11 points from Chyna Eagle who also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

Arabia Mountain hosts Clarkson in a Region 5AAAAA doubleheader on Friday. The boys’ game features a Rams’ squad that won a non-region, neutral site game over Southwest Atlanta Christian 69-59 on Dec. 30. Arabia Mountain won its contest against Clarkson earlier this season by the score of 67-53 on Dec. 1.

The Rams’ girls team is off to a strong start with wins in 11 out of its first 12 contests. Arabia Mountain picked up a 59-48 neutral-side win over Lanier on Dec. 22 over the holiday break. The Rams defeated Clarkson 83-6 in the teams’ first meeting on Dec. 1.

Staying within Region 5AAAAA, Miller Grove hosts Southwest DeKalb in a doubleheader on Friday.

The boys game features a Wolverines’ team that dropped its contest against Blanche Ely (FL) 73-58 on Dec. 29 in Marietta. The Panthers fell to Greenforest 52-44 on Dec. 30. The girls’ game includes a SW DeKalb squad that lost its contest against Hazel Green 63-51 on Dec. 30. Miller Grove’s girls team defeated Grady 72-21 on Dec. 28 at the Tucker Hoops Classic in Tucker.

Lithonia hosts Chamblee in a Region 5AAAAA doubleheader on Friday as well. Lithonia’s boys team has won 14 out of its first 16 games including a 70-48 victory over Greenforest on Dec. 29. Chamblee’s boys team fell to Stockbridge 61-54 in Tucker on Dec. 29. Lithonia won the previous contest against Chamblee earlier this season 50-46 on Dec. 1.

The Lithonia girls team dropped its game at Loganville 55-30 on Dec. 19. Chamblee’s girls team fell to Alcovy 47-35 on Dec. 22 but won its previous meeting against Lithonia 61-31 on Dec. 1.

Tucker will host Mundy’s Mill in a doubleheader on Friday in Region 4AAAAAA action. The Tigers’ boys team looks to rebound from a 53-50 home loss to Douglas County on Dec. 29. Tucker won its previous contest against Mundy’s Mill 70-69 in double overtime on Nov. 30. The Tigers’ girls team dropped its last contest on Dec. 30 to Whitehaven (TN) 53-42 despite a team-high 21 points and seven rebounds from Jasani Buchanan. Tucker earned a 62-33 win over Mundy’s Mill on Nov. 30.

Staying in the region, Stephenson visits M.L. King on Friday for a doubleheader. The Jaguars’ girls team earned a 75-25 win over Granite Falls (WI) on Dec. 23. Stephenson previously defeated M.L. King 58-44 on Dec. 1. The Jaguars’ boys team dropped its last contest against Enumclaw (WA) 44-42 on Dec. 23 but defeated M.L. King 58-44 on Dec. 1.

Lakeside hosts Central Gwinnett in a Region 7AAAAAAA doubleheader on Friday. The Vikings’ boys team earned a 61-54 win over Alcovy on Dec. 22 but lost its previous meeting against Central Gwinnett 64-59 on Dec. 1. Lakeside’s girls team also fell to Alcovy 64-61 on Dec. 21 and dropped its last game to Central Gwinnett 43-38.

Cedar Grove visits Lovett in a Region 5AAA doubleheader on Friday. The Saints’ boys team picked up a 64-63 overtime win over Woodland on Jan. 2 and previously defeated Lovett 56-46 on Nov. 28.

Redman will host Stone Mountain in a Region 5AAA doubleheader on Friday. The Pirates’ girls team dropped its last contest to McAdory on Dec. 30 but won its previous game against Redan 57-43 on Nov. 28 led by a team-high 15 points from Jada Hardison. Stone Mountain’s boys team fell to McIntosh 63-49 on Dec. 29 while Redan fell to Greater Atlanta Christian 77-48 that same day. The Raiders’ boys team defeated Stone Mountain 79-38 on Nov. 28.

Marist hosts Landmark Christian on Saturday. The War Eagles’ boys team dropped its last contest at Baldwin 50-34 on Dec. 30. Marist girls’ team lost to Ware County 49-42 on Dec. 23.

St. Pius X visits Jefferson in a Region 8AAAA doubleheader on Friday. The Golden Lions’ girls team lost its contest to John Carroll 73-65 on Dec. 30. St. Pius X saw its boys team defeat Canisius 58-30 at home on Dec. 30.

Dunwoody visits North Atlanta in a doubleheader on Friday in Region 7AAAAAA action. The Wildcats’ boys team looks to rebound from a 56-40 loss to Islands on Dec. 30. Dunwoody girls team lost to Kell 41-37 on Dec. 30.
