Decatur’s home game against Riverwood in a Region 6AAAAA doubleheader on Friday highlights the final week of action before region tournaments begin to determine spots in the state playoffs.

The Bulldogs’ girls team stayed in the top half of the region standings with a 63-46 region road win over North Springs on Jan. 23. Decatur jumped out to a 20-9 lead to start the contest. Decatur’s boys squad dropped its contest to the Spartans 49-40 the same day despite a team-high 10 points and nine rebounds from Travon Smith.

Miller Grove hosts Arabia Mountain in a Region 5AAAAA doubleheader on Friday. The Rams boys’ team looks to rebound from a 63-55 region road loss to Chamblee on Jan. 24. Arabia Mountain’s girls team stayed undefeated in region play with a 79-33 win over the Bulldogs the same night. The Wolverines’ girls team earned a 66-31 region home win over Clarkston on Jan. 23. Miller Grove’s boys squad picked up a 54-19 victory over Clarkston the same day.

Staying in the region, Lithonia visits Southwest DeKalb in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Bulldogs’ boys team dropped its region home contest to Columbia on Jan. 23 by the score of 59-39. The Panthers picked up a 59-47 road win at Chamblee on Jan. 23 led by a team-high 21 points and 12 rebounds from Eugene Brown for a double-double, 12 points from Kadarius Johnson and 11 points from James Glisson. SW DeKalb’s girls team earned a 55-28 win over Chamblee on Jan. 23. Lithonia’s girls squad defeated Columbia 32-28 on Jan. 23.

Tucker visits Forest Park for a Region 4AAAAAA doubleheader on Friday. The Tigers’ boys team earned a 71-45 road win at Lovejoy on Jan. 23. Tucker’s girls team lost its contest to Lovejoy the same day 68-33.

Staying in the region, Stephenson visits Lovejoy in a doubleheader on Friday. The Jaguars’ boys team picked up a 77-35 road win at Forest Park on Jan. 19 to stay in the top half of the region standings. Stephenson’s girls squad fell to Forest Park the same day 49-48.

Dunwoody hosts Northview in a Region 7AAAAAA doubleheader on Friday. The Wildcats’ boys team dropped its region road contest at Centennial 57-46 on Jan. 23. Dunwoody’s girls squad fell to the Knights the same day 41-38.

Cedar Grove visits Redan for a Region 5AAA doubleheader on Friday. The Saints’ boys team stayed in the top half of the region standings with a 70-59 home win over Towers on Jan. 24. The Raiders’ boys squad dropped its game at Towers 76-52 on Jan. 23. Cedar Grove’s girls team picked up a 41-40 road win at Stone Mountain on Jan. 23. Redan’s girls team fell at home to Towers 50-43 on Jan. 23.

Staying in the region, Stone Mountain visits Pace Academy on Friday for a doubleheader.

Marist hosts Blessed Trinity for a Region 7AAAA doubleheader on Friday. The War Eagles’ boys team earned a 49-41 region road win at Chestatee on Jan. 23. Marist’s girls team also defeated Chestatee the same day by the score of 48-33.

St. Pius X hosts Oconee County in a region doubleheader on 8AAAA doubleheader on Friday. The Golden Lions’ girls team dropped its road contest at Madison County 46-43 on Jan. 23. St. Pius X boys’ squad stayed undefeated in region play with a 63-57 win over Madison County the same day.

Other region contests this weekend for local squads include Lakeside at Brookwood, Greenforest at Fulton Leadership Academy and Druid Hills visiting Henry County.
