To ensure Brookhaven’s parks and recreation facilities are meeting the needs and expectations of residents, the Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department is overseeing a comprehensive survey to gather community input.

“Resident feedback is invaluable to determine priorities and funding strategies for moving forward with improvements to our parks system,” Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Director Brian Borden said in a news release.

April 25, postcard notifications were mailed to nearly 25,000 Brookhaven addresses with instructions and unique access codes for the online survey. The codes are needed to prevent individuals submitting of multiple surveys, which could skew the results.

Many of the survey topics are identical to a previous parks survey conducted in 2014.

“By using the same questions, we can see if we are making progress and make adjustments to our service delivery strategy where we are not,” said Borden.

Residents who are unable to locate their access code can contact the parks and recreation department at 404-637-0562 and get their code by giving the staff member their address. With a valid access code, residents can visit to take the survey.

As of May 18, there had been 701 surveys submitted by Brookhaven residents. The survey period continues until May 30.
