Whitefield Academy in Smyrna recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for Brostrand Hall, a new facility that will house the school’s lower grades (pre-kindergarten through fourth). A year ago the school publicly launched its $24 million Leaving a Legacy campaign to include building the new academic building on its 100-acre campus. Over the past 12 months, fundraising progressed quickly, allowing for groundbreaking and the start of construction this spring. The new building is named in honor of former lower school Principal Jeannie Brostrand, who was an integral part of the lower school since its inception in 2002 and retired last year. Scheduled for completion by the August 2020 start of school, Brostrand Hall will serve 270 to 300 students.
