Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities will host its inaugural 5K and Fun Run March 17. It starts at MARTA’s Medical Center station, 5673 Peachtree Dunwoody Road in Sandy Springs. For the more serious runners, it’s also a Peachtree Road Race qualifier.
Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities keeps families with sick children close to each other and the medical care their child needs by providing homes for out-of-town families close to two of metro Atlanta's pediatric hospitals when their children are admitted there with serious illnesses or injuries. The nonprofit aims to nurture the health and well-being of children and families serving more than 50,000 families of ill or injured children since 1979.
The inaugural 5k & Fun Run is a special St. Patrick’s Day morning, family friendly event that will benefit Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities. Festivities include a scenic 5K and Peachtree qualifier around the Perimeter area, a fun run for the kids and a giant post-race party.
The 5K begins at 7:45 a.m. and the fun run starts at 8:45 a.m. Race venue and parking is next door to the station. You don’t have to be an athlete to participate, just someone who wants to make a difference for families of sick and injured children receiving care in Atlanta.
