Top seed Johanna Konta of Great Britain advanced to the Viking Open Nottingham semifinals with a 6-3, 7-6 (6) win Friday against No. 8 Alison Van Uytvanck of Belgium.

Her opponent in the England grass-court event will be No. 15 seed Nina Stojanovic of Serbia, a 6-2, 6-4 winner against No. 17 Tereza Martincova of the Czech Republic.

Saturday's other semifinal will see No. 4 seed Shuai Zhang of China against American Lauren Davis, the No. 14 seed.

Zhang rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) victory against No. 7 Kristina Mladenovic of France. Davis dropped the first set 7-6 (6) in her quarterfinal match with Britain's Katie Boulter and was leading 2-0 in the second set when Boulter retired due to an apparent shoulder injury.

Davis began her day Friday by resuming her match with fellow American and No. 2 seed Alison Riske, which was suspended Thursday after two sets due to darkness. Davis prevailed 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-4 in two hours, 42 minutes, saving all five break points she faced in the match.
