Saturday's Field of Flags march heads up Kennesaw Avenue toward Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Organized once every five years by the Kiwanis Club of Marietta, Field of Flags acquires 2,977 flags, one for each person who died in the attacks, and invites people to carry them to the park at Kennesaw Mountain. Once planted, the flags are left, usually for a week or so, a solemn reminder of the lives lost that tragic day.
