More than 1,000 people gathered at Cobb County’s Jim Miller Park on Thursday to eat, drink and recognize the county’s favorite businesses and service providers.

Cobb Life Magazine and the Marietta Daily Journal’s Best of Cobb 2021 celebration recognized winners of a reader-decided contest that this year saw more than 460,000 votes.

The April issue of Cobb Life Magazine announced the winners of the 2021 Best of Cobb contest.

Cobb families, elected officials and business leaders enjoyed smoothies, pizza, grilled cheese, cookies, barbecue and more at nearly 50 booths, while they networked and enjoyed a beer and wine bar and live music from 2021 Best of Cobb local band winner Brother Whitlock.

The event marked the return of the Best of Cobb Celebration from 2019, after the 2020 Best of Cobb Celebration was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cobb Chamber of Commerce Chairman John Loud, who gave remarks at the event, told the MDJ this year’s Best of Cobb event was a bright spot after more than a year of little ability to gather and celebrate. And it meant that much more that the event was a celebration of the local community, he said.

“What a neat honor. When you see the size of the gathering and the amount of people coming together to celebrate the top Cobb County businesses … for them to come out and get to meet and know each other … it’s been pretty exciting to have this turn out and celebrate these top businesses in Cobb,” Loud said. “And the hugs have been incredible and nonstop.”
