Marietta native Elissa B. Haynes, partner and vice chair of the National Appellate Advocacy section in the Atlanta office of Freeman Mathis & Gary LLP, has completed her term as the 75th president of the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia.
Under Haynes’ leadership during the past year, the YLD co-sponsored the 11th annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, which raised $880,248.08 — the equivalent of over 3.5 million meals — for the state’s food insecure population; reinstated the YLD Signature Fundraiser, bringing in more than $10,000 for Kate’s Club, which empowers children and teens facing life after the death of a parent, sibling or caregiver; launched a YLD Lunch-and-Listen initiative for young lawyers to connect and help each other with professional or personal challenges; and awarded four Public Interest Internship Program grants to Georgia law students and recent graduates starting careers in public service.
