Cobb-based Delta Community Credit Union announced that two organizations were recently awarded a total of $9,000 from the Delta Community Philanthropic Fund.

In a ceremony at the Credit Union’s Vinings branch, Delta Community CEO Hank Halter presented checks to Covenant House and Girls Scouts of Greater Atlanta.

Covenant House is a shelter for homeless and at-risk youth. It received a $5,000 grant to expand its Youth Financial Literacy Initiative, which was launched two years ago with a grant from the Delta Community Philanthropic Fund.

Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta received a $4,000 grant to support its STEM Career Development Program. The funds will provide 11-15 year old girls in 33 Georgia counties with educational enrichment in science, technology, engineering and math, and also provide leadership skills training.
