ATLANTA (AP) — An 18-year-old man was fatally shot in Atlanta's busy midtown neighborhood Saturday.

Atlanta Police Captain D’Andrea Price said she believed the victim was with a group of young men who had been selling water, according to WSB-TV.

Price said the shooter approached the group and some type of altercation occurred that prompted the group to run.

Police said the victim, who has not been identified, was shot multiple times in the chest and ran into a nearby garage. He died at the scene.

Two people were detained, but authorities were working to determine whether they were involved in the shooting.

Investigators did not immediately release additional information, including the identity and race of the victim.
