Douglas County led 31-28 at halftime, but defensive adjustments helped the Blue Devils (4-1) following the intermission. Marietta outscored the Tigers 15-4 in the fourth quarter.
Raynere Thornton recorded a double-double for Marietta with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Cameron Jordan scored his 13 points in the second half, and Tomae Theriot had nine points and was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in the final quarter.
Marietta will be at Kennesaw Mountain on Tuesday to begin Region 4AAAAAA play.
North Cobb Christian 78, Collins Hill 34: The Eagles drained 14 3-pointers and held a 42-19 halftime lead, en route to the victory in the Jared Cook Classic at North Gwinnett.
Kendall Crute made half of North Cobb Christian’s 3-pointers and finished with 29 points. He made five 3s in a row during the third period as the Eagles (2-1) led the quarter 24-6.
Hunter Ware added 15 points and eight assists, while Stephon Jelks contributed 14 points and eight boards. Trey Kalina totaled eight points, eight rebounds and five blocks.
North Cobb Christian will face Woodward Academy on Saturday at the St. Francis Classic.
Pope 59, Woodstock 47: The Greyhounds got hot in the fourth quarter and outscored the Wolverines by 10 after clinging to a two-point lead at the end of the third in the North Forsyth Thanksgiving tournament.
Four players reached double figures for Pope. Cole Childers led with 16 points, Chase Hutchins finished with 14, Garrick DeBowles 12 and Drew Romich 10.
Pope (3-1) will open Region 7AAAAA play at home Tuesday against Riverwood.
Walton 61, South Forsyth 36: The Raiders had a strong defensive effort and held the War Eagles to just 11 baskets in their tournament.
Walton pulled away in the third, when it outscored South Forsyth 16-6.
Jay Bowyer led with a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists, and Maurice Gibson had 14 points.
Lassiter 57, Blessed Trinity 42: The Lady Trojans went into the holiday with a victory, prevailing at Johns Creek’s Thanksgiving tournament.
After an 11-all first quarter, Lassiter (2-3) had control the rest of the way, outscoring Blessed Trinity 46-31.
Emilee Olsen had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Maeve Vitale added 14 points. Gabby Garza scored 11, and Grace Keheley eight.
Lassiter will return to action Tuesday, beginning its Region 5AAAAAA schedule at Cherokee.
North Cobb 55, Armuchee 38: The Lady Warriors applied full-court pressure the entire game and pulled away in the first quarter.
North Cobb (4-1) jumped to a 14-4 first-quarter lead, which ballooned to 28-12 at the half.
Kyrie’ Chandler led with 15 points, while Alexis Luster had 13 and Aniyah Corley 10.
Luster completed a double-double with 10 steals, and she added six assists. Kristian Carter pulled down 10 rebounds, seven of which were offensive.
North Cobb will play at Hillgrove on Tuesday in Region 4AAAAAA play.
Kell 71, Riverwood 30: The Lady Longhorns cruised to the Region 7AAAAA win.
Four players scored in double figures, including Judea Johnson, who had 17 points. Onyx Henderson and Jordan Dubose each added 11, while Kayla Oden chipped in 10 points and four assists.
Kell (1-3, 1-0) led 30-4 at the end of the first quarter and 51-8 at halftime. The Lady Longhorns made seven 3-pointers overall and shot 15-of-26 from the free-throw line.
Kell will host Sprayberry on Tuesday in a region game.
Parkview 44, Hillgrove 37: Free-throw struggles did the Lady Hawks in as they lost to the host in the championship game of the holiday tournament.
Hillgrove (5-1) only shot 8-for-20 from the line, and it missed a layup in the final minute that would have brought the score within one point.
Eight players scored for the Lady Hawks, though none reached double figures. Tene Thompson scored eight, and Mackenzie Engram had six.
