Eddie Printz threw for 241 yards and a touchdown and Lane Jackman added 73 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to lift the second-ranked Trojans to a 28-14 victory over the Hornets. The victory secured a No. 1 playoff seed, and Lassiter will try for a perfect regular season next Friday when it takes on Etowah.
The Trojans jumped out to a 14-0 lead and managed to keep Roswell at bay down the stretch.
“Roswell played really hard,” Lassiter coach Jep Irwin said. “The game was what I thought it was going to be. We’re really excited to be 9-0. I’m glad for our seniors to get this win.
“I’m really proud of our defense in that second half — Roswell has a good offense, and they’re going to be a tough out for anybody.”
The Trojans offense came out strong, scoring on the game’s opening possession on Lane Jackman’s 37-yard touchdown run.
“The line drove out, their defensive end made a huge hole,” Jackman said. “I had to make the right cut and just ran straight to the end zone.”
As the Hornets struggled, Printz put them farther behind when he threw a strike to Ryan Jenkins for a 50-yard score with 5:08 left to play in the first quarter.
Roswell running back Andrew Kwateng went to work in the second quarter. A pair of tough runs set up Ryan Monty’s 13-yard touchdown pass play to Bernie Arowoselu at the 10:09 mark.
The Trojans responded with another touchdown run by Jackman 6 minutes later. Kwateng pulled Roswell to within striking distance on his 60-yard touchdown run with 2:50 left to play in the first half.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our guys,” said Roswell coach Justin Sanderson, a former Lassiter High School player. “We didn’t have anything riding on this game, but we kept fighting. We outplayed them, but they beat us on the scoreboard.”
The Hornets, led by Kwateng, threatened to tie the game by mounting a long drive to open the second half. The Lassiter defense held steady, forcing Roswell to settle for a field goal attempt that was no good.
Printz’s 2-yard quarterback keeper with 9:56 left to play and tough, clock-eating runs by running back Hakim Shahid sealed the victory.
“We knew they had one thing to play for — to beat us,” Jackman said. “To everybody, from here on out, we’re the team to beat, we’ve just got to play our game, and play smart.”

Also good to see the penalties kept to a minimum. Have to do that in hte playoffs or you can and will get burned.
Like any team, still some things to work on but hopefully a good game this week and then a long playoff run. Nice to be able to go back to a game or 2 a year and see a good product on the field
Spoken like a Coach with a 2-17 record. Roswell had less total offensive yards, less points, more penalties and more punts but the Roswell Head Coach claims his team outplayed the Trojans. Lassiter started subbing players in the 2nd quarter. I don't see Roswell ever winning under a coach who makes dumb statements like this. Good grief.
Sounds like coach speak for I still want my guys to beive in what were doing and that we are headed in the right direction.
