KENNESAW — Kendall Crute ran for 133 yards and a touchdown, and threw a 40-yard touchdown pass as North Cobb Christian defeated Providence Christian 49-21.

The victory was the third for the Eagles this season — the first for the program in its six-year existence.

North Cobb Christian coach Harry Miles said Thursday that getting a third win would be “a great thing,” but it now leaves the Eagles a good chance of finishing not with just three wins, but at .500 or better for the first time.

“We’re always going to try to win every one,” Miles said. “It would be good to go 5-5, but right now we’ve got a tough Towns County game, so we have to get ready for them. But I think we are capable we just have to execute.”

The suspense of whether North Cobb Christian would get the third win was quickly ended.

Daniel Galanos, who carried the ball 14 times for 65 yards, scored less than 4 minutes into the game. It started a run of 28 straight points and led to a 35-7 lead at the half.

“We only had one turnover late in the game. We were able to sustain drives, which is what our offense has to do to run the clock. I feel like we did pretty good and I’m satisfied with my guys,” Miles said.

John Towne ran for 105 yards on three carries, and caught Crute’s touchdown pass. He also returned a punt 92 yards for a touchdown to help the Eagles build the first-half lead.

Miller Forristall also found the end zone twice in the game, scoring on runs of 45 and 6 yards. He finished with six carries for 77 yards.

With all the good things that happened on offense, Miles said his defense kept things moving smoothly.

“They gave us opportunities to stay on the field,” he said. “Our defense did really well.”
