Dr. Jack Allison Thompson, 87, of Bremen, GA died Saturday, April 12. Born July 19, 1926 to the late Merle and Helen Thompson, he graduated from North Fulton High in 1942. He received a BS in Premed and his Doctorate in Medicine from Emory University in Atlanta. Jack completed his Residency and Internship at Ohio State University Hospital. He served as a Navy Surgeon at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California during the Korean War. Jack practiced medicine as a gifted surgeon for 35 years at Piedmont, Crawford W Long, Hughes Spalding, Northside Hospital and Saint Joseph’s hospitals in Atlanta and 5 years at Villa Rica Hospital. Jack is preceded in death by his first wife Ann Exum Thompson and his brother William Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judith Gaskins Thompson, 6 children: Lynn Thompson Clarke, Joel Thompson, Thomas Thompson, Mark Thompson, Beth Thompson Fix, and Jan Thompson Martin; 10 grandchildren: Justin Clarke, Heather Clarke Williams, Adam Thompson, Laura Thompson, Benjamin Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Trista Thompson, Christopher Fix, Ellen Fix, and Jonathan Fix; 1 great grandchild, Shannon Williams. His family has plans for a private memorial service.
