Mr. Charles Wesley Barrett, Sr., age 75, of Smyrna passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013. Memorial services will be conducted on Monday, August 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna with Chaplain G.D. Hendricks officiating. Internment will be on Tuesday, August 20th at 1:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. Mr. Barrett loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends more than anything. Mr. Barrett was an accountant and was managing partner of Barrett-McLeod Business Services in Smyrna. Mr. Barrett served in the U.S. Air Force and was a longtime member of American Legion Post #160 in Smyrna. Mr. Barrett served The American Legion for over 40 years and held many offices including State Commander of Georgia and National Sr. Vice Commander. He was loved and respected by so many people all over the country. Mr. Barrett is survived by his wife, Kitty Barrett; sister Rita Haynes; sons Roy L. Barrett, and his wife Tina, Charles W. Barrett Jr. and his wife Angela; daughter Ashley Barrett; stepson Steve Price; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Legion Boys State Program in his name. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service and afterwards at The American Legion Post #160 in Smyrna.
