Lime Taqueria and Tequila Bar, located at 4600 West Village Place in Smyrna, is not your ordinary Mexican restaurant. At Lime, you'll find authentic Mexican cuisine rather than the usual enchiladas and burritos.

"We serve food from different regions in Mexico," said chef Oscar Mendivil, who has traveled extensively throughout Mexico.

Mendivil, whose family owns a 120-year-old bakery near the Mexican border, was previously employed by the Ritz Carlton for 12 years. He is responsible for the chef-driven menu at Lime.

"When I put the menu together, I try to put something unique," he said. "We do a little click of fusion cuisine focusing on international."

Opened three years ago, Lime is owned by Rene Diaz, who also owns Diaz Foods, one of the largest distributors of Hispanic food in the country.

"We have fresh deliveries every day, fresh produce and fresh meat and seafood daily," Mendivil said.

"Fresh ingredients is where you have the success," he said. "There's protection over the clients, (which) is a very good thing, serving fresh ingredients. They don't want to go somewhere and buy something bad. It just makes it taste better."

These fresh ingredients go into "Specialties of the Chef" such as Veracruz, a dish of grilled jumbo shrimp in a smoky chili ancho salsa served over spaghetti squash with lime splashed sauteed spinach.

Another favorite is Fideos al Pacifico: Pan-seared scallops, grilled shrimp with angel hair pasta, spinach, roasted red peppers and grilled corn in a tequila chipotle lobster cream sauce.

Enjoy your meal with freshly squeezed, handcrafted specialty margaritas and mojitos or other specialty drinks. Lime's unique Guava Flan, made with fresh guava fruit, is the perfect way to end any meal.

"We offer a different type (of) cuisine when people want to try something different. It's not usually the same food you see in other restaurants around the area," he said.

Lime often hosts special events and private functions for organizations such as Coca-Cola, The Latin American Association and the Mexican American Chamber of Commerce.

"We have warm customer service and the food," Mendivil said. "The food - people love it. That brings back customers."

Dine at Lime from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit www.limetaqueria.com or call (678) 309-1113.
