James William Ferguson, age 82, of Dallas, GA and formerly of Murphy, NC, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Tranquility Hospice in Austell, Georgia. He was a native of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late Hayden Thomas Ferguson, Sr. and Claude Elizabeth Ferguson. James served in the USAF during the Korean War and was retired from C. W. Matthews & Co. He was a member of Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. James was a very loved husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Coffey Ferguson and by his brother, Hayden T. Ferguson, Jr. James is survived by two sons, Steve Ferguson (Sheila), of Kennesaw, GA and Bryan Ferguson of Douglasville, GA; two daughters, Gail Dulay (Howard Hom) of Los Angeles, CA, and Janet K. Ferguson of Marietta, GA; two grandchildren, Madison and Anna Ferguson of Douglasville, GA. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. Dr. Chester Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy, NC with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 1650 NC Hwy 141, Murphy, NC 28906.
