SMYRNA - Police continue looking for the driver of a Camaro who struck and seriously injured a teenager on Cobb Parkway early Saturday.

Based on debris found at the scene, police have determined that the car is a 2001 or 2002 white Chevrolet Camaro with damage to the left side, from the front of the car down to the driver's door, and likely missing the driver's side mirror.

Smyrna Police Officer Michael Smith said Alexandra Langford, 17, remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Grady Memorial Hospital after being hit by the Camaro at about 12:25 a.m. Saturday. Smith said Langford had exited a stopped car at 2350 Cobb Parkway, in front of the International House of Pancakes, to retrieve a dog that had jumped out of the vehicle.

The driver of the Camaro came from behind and collided with the parked car, Smith said. The driver, while fleeing the scene, then struck Langford, according to Smyrna Police.

Langford was transported to Grady with serious leg and head injuries. Smith said Monday that she was "coherent, but still in and out of it."

Smyrna Police are at (770) 434-6666 or (770) 434-9481.
