EDITOR'S NOTE: Below is a selection of responses shared by readers of MDJOnline.com in reaction to recent MDJ stories ...

Transparency is No. 1, say school board candidates ...

Common sense wrote - Transparency means nothing without accountability

Not this Cobb teacher wrote - We know Kathy "Angrylucci's" tactics. Most teachers do not support this woman. Get your facts straight.

Dual resident wrote - Just how does Donna Rowe plan to give her vote to two candidates for the school board? The last time I checked, SB seats were by post and you vote in the post where you reside. Maybe she has a plan. Thank goodness for Superintendent Fred Sanderson and his administration, they are leaders, they understand education and the business of education. I can only imagine the shape the CCSD would be in if the board were "in control" as the candidates suggest they should be.

To control or serve? wrote - Interesting. Bill Borden states he wants "control" at the "helm" and Kathy Angelucci states she has "served" for 15 years. Isn't a politician to SERVE?

Jolly Rancher wrote - Borden's statement that "transparency is the highest on the list" is just laughable. He is one of the least transparent candidates this county has ever had. Just look at the corporate maze he and his wife have built - in three (or more) states. It's impossible to decipher, and that is likely by design. He has no ideas of his own because he's not prepared to sit on the school board. Running a number of hokey corporations that you created to boost your own ego is not real experience.

Steve Rhinehart wrote - It is good that Borden believes in transparency. Everybody sees right through him for the four-flushing phony he is. Borden was hand-picked by Abraham and Sanderson to try and keep Kathy Angelucci off the board. They are both terrified of her. What angers me is that Abraham no longer has a dog in the fight, indeed if ever he did. He's still kissing Fred's behind though.

You owe more wrote - Borden bragged that he and his wife paid $6,000 in taxes last year. Who cares when you owe more you need to pay it. I also paid lots of taxes I think I will choose to put my cap at $6,000 also. Let's make the rules up as we go, Mr. Borden. You will be such an asset to the integrity of the school board. PAY UP!!!

Brendan Behan wrote - So in an article that most assumed was about a candidates' forum, we hear more from Ms. Rowe than some of the actual candidates. Ms. Rowe, whose knowledge of the school district is wholly dependent on who she chose to marry, did nothing but add to the Borden, Borden, Borden mantra that seems to permeate these pages.

NO BORDEN wrote - Borden is just an dishonest as the board we have seated now. He brags about how he lives in two places. We don't need another board member like David Morgan who never shows and just receives a paycheck. Not to mention he is connected strongly with current board members.

Anonymous wrote - Mr. Borden, the Cobb County Board of Education does not need any more problem people on the board. Please pay your taxes. Man! What a mess, first the one's we have, now you.

Laura Armstrong column: Justice appears selective for Colotl, Cobb school board. ...

Tina1978 wrote - I HATE when people use "socialist" as a bad word. "Oh no, we're becoming socialist." And I don't see what the problem with Jessica Colotl is. Her parents brought her here when she was 11. She didn't have a choice in the matter. And now she's pursuing hire education. That should be a GOOD thing. Isn't it better to have educated immigrants?

Samuel Adams wrote - Miss Tina, what you are espousing is that we should allow our government and laws to be corrupted. Get a grip before your emotions run away with you. And PLEASE before you go shouting about socialism, learn a little bit about it. If Ms. Armstrong's column is above your head, go do a little research before commenting. "Like hey, oh wow, Jessica was just a little girl once, oh wow! Like, hey, why can't we just forget about the law and let her stay?"

Very Correct wrote - Thank you, Mrs. Armstrong, for expressing the frustration that I and many friends feel. Citizens/public officials and illegals who are able to do as they please, even when it is against our local, state and federal laws, are taking over control of our country. Don't mistake this for just a coincidence or a "new interpretation" of our U.S. Constitution. We are getting a taste of what it is like in a socialist or communist country. And that is NOT what our forefathers established over 200 years ago.
