Rick Brun, 60 of Marietta died Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Chapel in Marietta with Deacon Bruce Reed officiating. Rick was born in Chicago in 1950 and moved to Clearwater, FL in 1967. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1972 with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in political science and earned a Masters of Public Administration from Florida State University. Rick moved to Marietta in 1977 where he married his wife of 31 years, Liz, and raised two children, Christopher and Kate. Before getting into local government, Rick worked for The Council of State Governments and the Southern Solar Energy Center. In 1984, he began working as the assistant city manager for the City of Marietta. In 1987, he started a 23-year career with Cobb County where he worked as the manager of business operations for the Cobb County Water System and, most recently, as the Purchasing Director for Cobb County. Rick was a National Advisory Board Member of the U.S. Communities Purchasing Alliance, an active member of ICMA and member of St. Josephs Catholic Church for more than 30 years. Rick loved his family and spending time with them. Survivors include his wife, Liz Brun of Marietta; a daughter & son-in-law, Kate & Jon Obst of Kennesaw; one son & daughter-in-law, Christopher & Dawn Brun of Atlanta; sister, Barbara Brun of Chicago, IL and two brothers, David Brun of Clearwater, FL and Harold Brun of Chicago, IL.
