Don't kick Lloyd when he's down

DEAR EDITOR:

The only time I have seen the MDJ devote so much space to an individual is usually when someone in Cobb has swindled someone else out of their life savings or a murder story you would not believe. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead. It is a violation of civil rights to stop a person and make them prove they are who they say they are and that they are legally allowed to be here. We nailed an illegal at KSU.

Well now that we have let that die down, let's find something else to show how superior we are. I have an idea, let's pounce on Mickey Lloyd. Let's profile him and make him prove who he is. It doesn't matter that he is one of the finest law enforcement officers that ever put Cobb County on the map as one of the safest cities in Georgia. Let's not judge him on his accomplishments during his leadership as the Cobb County Director of Public Safety.

Let's not give him the respect he deserves and place judgment on him. Let's kick him while he is down. It does not matter if or not he was a military hero. Some idiot has implanted the idea that he is a fake.

That idiot has accomplished his mission. That idea will remain regardless of the outcome of the impending investigation. People will now lose confidence in Mickey Lloyd.

There will never be a repair.

I for one will never challenge the integrity of Mickey Lloyd. It distresses me to hear the names of residents of Cobb County that are attempting to dig up negative information on him. Some that have never even heard of Mickey Lloyd. I would vote for Mickey Lloyd for any position of responsibility.

Hmmm... if the President of the United States invokes court order to keep HIS records sealed, I suppose Mickey Lloyd is declaring the same privilege. My guess is, both disclosures will produce the same result.

Lloyd is a liar and fraud. His second DD-214 is forged and he was never a SEAL. All persons who have graduated from the requisite training are on a database that is held by a small number of organizations, StolenValor.com among them. Forging a DD-214 is a federal crime and has nothing to do with the Stolen Valor act, which has been so stupidly struck down by ONE JUDGE in Colorado. I expect it to rise once again like the mythical bird, the Phoenix. To those of you who are veterans, regardless of whether you served in combat or not, you should be outraged at this. He should be summarily discharged from this jog and every defense lawyer he has ever come up against in court should file a motion to retry any cases where his testimony was used to convict.

Show me the paperwork! Why the silence? HMMMM....?

Doesn't smell the sniff test and this is not "being kicked while down." This is showing INTEGRITY!

Lloyd posing his SEAL talk to a crowd in Smyrna- from the MDJ:

Mickey Lloyd continues to serve today, as Cobb's public safety director. But as a Navy SEAL, he spent 18 months in Vietnam's Mekong Delta, earning the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars both with the Valor device, and a Purple Heart.

It was apparent Lloyd's experiences have left a mark on him, as he took a moment to compose himself when beginning to speak of his time in the Navy.

"There are a lot of experiences I would like to forget, but can't forget. There are so many we lost, so many that never came back mentally and others who are still suffering from diseases sustained in combat. I just want to say thank you," Lloyd said.

How is he being kicked while he is down? If what you say is true, he can't be down. He will prove his record and all will be well. If on the other hand it is proven that he lied, then he will be down by his own doing. And, if he did indeed lie, after firing those recruits, I am sure plenty of folks will think he is a hypocrite and will be willing to say so. Ralph, you need to wait until the truth is known, cuz' you could look like a bozo as well.

Ralph, if you cannot see the problem, which is not as simple as kicking someone when they are down, and feel the same outrage that other feel by such deception and misrepresentation of one's credentials and military record, then you should keep your thoughts and comments to yourself as they are without any validity and merit. The wrong here is quite clear....the remedy is what needs to be discussed. And if Mr. Lloyd were of such impeccable character as you seem to think, then what did happen here would not have happened.

Dear Mr. Laughter:

I take issue with your letter to the editor regarding Mickey Lloyd's questionable service record. You see, my father, who was killed in action in 1968, Lt. Col. Roger J. Bartholomew, and whose etched name is on the Vietnam Memorial IS one of those heroes who EARNED his medals of honor and gave his life for them. To have someone, fraudulantly claim that they were a war hero not only dishonors those who gave their lives for our country, but also dishonors their descendants. The MDJ is questioning because it is QUESTIONABLE. Too many people have come forward questioning this. You are correct, if he is not being forthcoming, there will never be a repair to his reputation...but let's find out the truth. Our veterans, families, and we the taxpayers deserve to know the truth. I am sickened and saddened by the politicians who have felt the need to run on the "decorated war hero" ballet, when they are not one. My father, and all those who have given life and limb deserve better.

Mr Laughter, The tone of your letter immediately tells me you never served in the US military, much less in a war zone. Your moral relativism smacks of excuse making for what is a most serious matter which affects not only every military veteran in Cobb county but anyone who has ever served honorably in the armed forces in the armed forces of the United States. Any war veteran with the decortions that Lloyd claims can immediately prove he is authentic. Lloyd is stonewalling. Our county commisioners should be ashamed of themseles for not calling in the FBI immediately. This could have been cleared up by now, given the resources of the FBI.

He is not being kick, he is being accused as a fraud in regard to his military record.

So he can either come forth and admit that he was just a BM3 and spent about a month off the coast of Vietnam or he can continue the charade and suffer.

Now he has 2 veterans groups stating he was never what he claims and could face federal charges.

Great leader for Public Safety?????

Using your logic Mr. Laughter (is that your real last name?), then we should never verify anyone's credentials. Concerning Mr. Lloyd, it appears the ball may have been dropped by the HR department, who should have vetted Mr. Lloyd thoroughly. It amazes me how many times the people applying for lower level jobs have their records checked with a fine tooth comb, but the credentials of those applying for high level, high paying positions have their past just skimmed at the top.

In regards to Colotl, breaking the law is breaking the law. Had the GA Board of Regents instructed the state colleges & universities to do their job properly & lawfully AND had our federal gov't enforced our borders & current immigration laws, this incident might never have happened.

Ignoring laws and prcedures is much of the reason this country is in a HUGE mess.

Forging a document (DD214), claiming to be someone you are not (SEAL, Riverine etc.) and the claim of the Silver Star and two Bronze Stars for Valor.

This isn't idle bar talk by a guy trying to pick up women. This is from the Director of Cobb County Public Safety and is listed on his various bios.

This is CRIMINAL ACTIVITY that is a FEDERAL OFFENSE.

He alone is at fault, and the STOLEN VALOR SYNDROME is the cause.

This phony used a fake military bio to further his career and (warped) ego.

Mickey Lloyd refuses to come clean and show documents to refute the "idiots who pounce on him and plant the idea that he is a fake."

Remember, many men were awarded the Silver Star and shed blood for that award, some posthumously.
