Gaffney, SC - Emmie Robertson Mayfield Wright, 93, formerly of 304 E. O'Neal Street, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Brookview Healthcare. Born in Cherokee County, SC, she was first married to the late Archie Mayfield and then to the late Manuel Wright. She was the daughter of the late Henry Bascomb Robertson and Mattie Jones Robertson. Mrs. Wright retired after working 43 years in the textiles industry in 1980 and was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church in Gaffney. She is survived by a son, Donald G. Mayfield and wife, Rue of Gaffney; a daughter, Elaine Kay Mayfield Perry and husband, Bud of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren, Shelly Grant and husband, Steve of Robuck, SC, Melissa Perry of Marietta, GA and Ryan Perry and wife, Elizabeth of Dallas, GA; four great-grandchildren, Mitchell Grant and Zachary Grant of Robuck, SC, Logan Perry, Camden Perry and step great-grandchild, Evan Humphries of Dallas, GA. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Perry, a brother, H. B. Robertson and a sister, Louise Salem. Graveside service was held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 in Frederick Memorial Gardens with Dr. Clyde Thomas officiating. Her grandsons and great grandsons served as pallbearers.
