EDITOR'S NOTE: Below is a selection of responses shared by readers of MDJOnline.com in reaction to recent MDJ stories ...

Commission chair hopeful Savage makes issue of opponent Lee's bankruptcy ....

Anonymous wrote - This tells me that Larry Savage will do his research, his homework and drive the good old boy out.

From Texas wrote - This has been around a long time. Tim Lee doesn't have homeowner support anymore. Larry Savage didn't bring this up. The information has been floating around. The real story is the wording in the school turf contract and Tim's client is the only one to get the business. Also, the chamber dealings and the puppet he wants to bring on board the commission, Jo Ann Birrell. You need to look at Jo Ann's lobbying while running for office, this is the real story.

Margin of victory wrote - Congratulations, Mr. Savage. Tim's margin of victory over you has now gone from 10 points to 25 points. Way to go!

PMT wrote - Anyone who thinks this was a cheap shot doesn't understand the way politics is played. Lee should not hold this post or win this election. If he really cared about the people of Cobb he'd simply withdraw from the race. We deserve what we elect.

Sorry, Tim wrote - Tim, you should have released this information 7.5 years ago.

Write-in wrote - I was going to vote for Savage because I've not been impressed with Lee's work as a commissioner. Now I can't vote for Savage either for bringing this up (mudslinging politics). Now who would be a good write-in candidate? Bob Ott?

For honesty wrote - Tasteless and low class? Depends on how one feels about truth and honesty. I'm certain if there is something in Savage's background, they are already checking on that.

Birds of a Feather wrote - Where there is slime, there is a slimy politician who is willing to stoop to any low to get a vote. Hate to be the one to break it to you, Larry, but your little stunt has backfired.

Be Honest wrote - I was a big fan of Lee. I now feel betrayed. Things happen in life and one must move on. However, when you choose to be in public life you must be honest and forthcoming. What else are you hiding, Mr. Lee? I have just jumped ship and encourage others to follow.

Voter in the Know wrote - Savage has lived up to his name. What a cheap shot!

RAMAR wrote - The bankruptcy is irrelevant. Savage hurt himself more than Lee with the revelation of it.

Old Marietta wrote - What makes this a relevant issue? Folks have had 8 years to evaluate the integrity of Lee. Does this Larry guy just like to see his name in the paper? If he had a real purpose for running he would be talking about why he deserved the vote. Instead he looks foolish.

Dler3949 wrote - So, according to Savage, politicians are not allowed to have made a mistake, if you could even call it that. This should not be front page news.

School board candidate Borden a resident of Cobb or Alaska?

Hmmmmmm wrote - If somebody is a part-time Alaska resident, that also makes him a part-time Georgia resident. And where will his loyalties be? This guy just evades. This is at least the third time he has not replied to the newspaper, and he hasn't agreed to debate his opponent. What else is he evading?

Ben wrote - I still don't see anyone denying any of the "mean" things said about this guy. If they are all untrue (that he's not a resident, that he's not qualified, that he promised to raise taxes, that he's not buddies with school board member John Abraham, etc.), then prove it and the other candidate will look like a fool. If you can't do that, then I suggest you had better stop throwing stones.

Penny Tax wrote - We have all known for some time that Borden is playing games with the law by pretending to be a full-time Georgia resident. Search YouTube for "Bill Borden" and you'll see him describe himself as a part-time resident of Alaska. But you better hurry; he will probably take it down as soon as he reads this! I thought you had to be a full-time resident of your post in order to run for the school board.

Dustoff wrote - Something smells like dead fish here. He gets a homestead exemption, has a company here, but drives vehicles with Alaskan tags? Is he a registered voter? We have a big enough mess on the BOE and do not need a part-time member!

Taxed to death wrote - Can anyone else see the red flags already regarding this guy? Keep it up MDJ. Expose some of these people for what they are.

East Cobber wrote - How can you run for office if you are not a resident of the county?

Joe plumber wrote - He's illegal, er, undocumented. Send him back to Alaska!

If Mr. Borden is not in the state often enough to get an emissions test on his vehicles, how will he have time to serve on the school board?

I don't know why the MDJ is obsessed with attacking Bill Borden...perhaps that needs to be examined as closely as they are examing him! I've known Bill Borden for about ten years now...I have known him as a Kennesaw neighbor, as one of my son's Scoutmasters, as a local business man, as an inspirational speaker, and as a friend and volunteer. He went to Alaska to train and run the Iditarod, and saw the opportunity to expand his business interests in an area he grew to love. Isn;t that the American dream? He didn't stop living in Georgia, any more than the Buckhead matron with the beach house in Florida!
