DEAR EDITOR:

Kudos to MDJ editor Kim Isaza on a well-written article, "School Board Admits Illegal Vote." The Cobb School Board ought to be ashamed of its long history of taking illegal votes and what appear to be deliberate attempts to throw the community off track. Chairwoman Lynnda Crowder-Eagle should be ashamed of her responses. Even if she felt the reporter's questions had little merit, as chairwoman of the Cobb school board, she should represent the board in a more professional manner.

Luvin hasn't been in a classroom in a half century

or he/she would know that today's students bring

their real worlds into the schoolhouse everyday.

And the pictures of their worlds are oftentimes

not very pretty. They reflect their upbringing and the turmoil of our society. The sheltered school teacher and school disappeared 4 decades ago. Luvin is lost in the past

To "25 yr teacher": it is sad to see that you name yourself as a teacher but you don't know that "throwed out" is incorrect--it is "thrown" out. Also, there is no such word as "dumn". It is "dumb" which actually means mute, but now is used to also mean stupid.

Oh dear, oh dear. Please tell me that "25yr teacher" is not really a teacher! Otherwise, there can be no excuse whatsoever for his or her having written "throwed out" instead of "thrown out" and misspelling the word "dumb". (Which use of the word itself is wrong, in that "dumb" means unable to speak; mute--not "stupid". Granted, the word has been used for many years colloquially to mean stupid, so that gets a pass. But misspelling? Please.)

to common sense- You do not understand what educators have to do, they work so much harder than any person in other professions and do not get paid for the summer when they are not at work. They should not be worried with any finances at all, just educating children. if you want that, then you will pay them and keep giving them money whenever they need it. If not, then it may as well all get them throwed out and let the kids be dumn

Show me a high level administrator that has done a zero based budget that was highly scrutinized. Show me someone that has real management training, not a 2 hr workshop. The management of most any school district has been brought up in the veiled education world and has not been exposed to an environment when productivity, efficiency and outcomes makes or breaks money or a job. When we get to that, the education world will change. Until then, if the mirror fogs, let them stay around
Also an educator

Please do not lump all "life-long educators" in the same boat with L C-E. Most of us learn within the first year or two of our careers that presenting ourselves to the public is crucial and a very real part of our jobs. We are not so arrogant to think that we are self-employed; we fully realize that we work for the public. We also learn the meaning of the term "ethics" and practice those ethics daily, modeling them for the children we teach. Just because one person has forgotten her calling as an educator and has taken on the "higher" calling of a politician does not mean that other "career educators" are still working every day to teach children how to be good citizens.

you have to realize that Crowder-Eagle is a life long educator and they have no business or real life skills due to the sheltered life they have existed in over the years. That is what is wrong with education
