Everything old is new again at Mint Julep Consignment Boutique, located at 93 Church St., off the Marietta Square. The trendy fashion boutique features a blend of vintage and modern clothing, shoes, accessories and handbags.

Owner Rolanda Wright turned her hobby of vintage shopping into reality. The store in Marietta is one of two vintage stores she owns, the other being in DeKalb County.

"I've always loved consignment, thrift shopping and Goodwill shopping," she said.

With the state of the economy, Rolanda explained that the timing for opening a consignment boutique was perfect. "People are strapped," she said. "They still want to be fashionable. They still want to look good, but they don't want to pay a lot of money for it.

"It's a great way to reinvent your wardrobe but get something new," said the wife of Leonard Wright.

Attracted to timeless pieces made in the '40s or '50s, Rolanda incorporates that style reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Onassis into the store along with modern labels. "You can use those pieces with the modern pieces," she explained.

In the intimate shop where customers are often found lingering, well-known brands such as Gucci, Stuart Weitzman, and Prada as well as "mall brands" fill the well-organized racks.

"I have to be very selective of what we bring into the store," she said, observing that the store is small.

"The whole concept was to make it more boutique-ish," she added. "With my style, it's always been a blend of modern and vintage. I've always loved the combo of the two," said the mother of four girls.

Mint Julep serves a diverse customer base ranging from age 16 to 70. The shop also offers customers a service to go to their homes and help organize and purge their closets.

"We are bringing something new to Marietta," she said. "We just wanted to add a little flavor to something on the Square."
