FURRY FRIENDS: Cobb County Animal Advocates, which describes itself as a citizen activist organization whose goal it to turn Cobb Animal Control into a "no-kill" animal shelter, has posted responses from the candidates in the District 3 commission race, and from the county chairman's race.
The questions examine a number of animal-related issues, from supporting a trap-neuter-release program for feral cats to whether air conditioning should be added to the Cobb Animal Shelter.
The CCAA cites that in 2009, Cobb County Animal Control killed 5,963 dogs and cats and 1,666 wild animals.
Cobb County Animal Advocates received responses from JoAnn Birrell, Larry Savage, Leonard Church, Stephen Moon and Tim Lee.

POUNDING THE PAVEMENT: Helen Goreham, the incumbent in the District 1 race for Cobb Commission challenged by former Kennesaw Mayor Leonard Church, says she's wearing out her shoe leather to meet with voters, recently attending the Juneteenth celebration on the Square, a forum conducted by the West Cobb Neighborhood Association and the Cobb County Republican Women's Club forum. Goreham said she and her husband, Len Goreham, attended the Cobb Symphony Concert on the Square on Saturday night, where supporters with Vote Helen signs were very much appreciated. Then it was off to the Star Spangled Spectacular Concert at Kennesaw State University on Sunday.
