Borden did not respond to the Journal regarding how he felt about it.
The site maintains that Borden is in an alliance with former board member Laura Searcy and Dr. John Abraham, the latter of whom will step off the board at the end of the year.
"This sort of says it all, doesn't it? If you liked Searcy and Abraham, I guess Borden is your boy - he certainly is their boy," said the anonymous author of the website, who is simply identified as "Penny Tax."
Penny Tax also raises questions about Borden serving on the Kennesaw Development Authority and the issue of Kennesaw's highly controversial PILOT - payment in lieu of taxes - which former Cobb Board of Commissioners Chairman Sam Olens called "reprehensible."
A PILOT allows a development authority to float bonds for infrastructure improvements. The authority takes title to the property, which as government property, is not taxable. The developer then diverts money he or she would have paid in property taxes to paying off the bonds. When the bonds are paid off, the property is returned to the tax rolls. Before state Rep. Earl Ehrhart (R-Powder Springs) had a chance to end the process, PILOTs did not require all taxing authorities to sign off before the bonds are issued. This meant one taxing body could agree to divert the revenue of another body without it knowing.
This is precisely what Kennesaw did in 2007.
The Kennesaw City Council tried to obtain a tax allocation district to subsidize a proposed development at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Kennesaw Due West Road, but were turned down by the Cobb school board in December 2006. So Kennesaw decided to secretly use $13.5 million in PILOT bonds to subsidize the $100 million project. The Kennesaw mayor and council failed to tell their county and school board counterparts of their plan despite the fact that Kennesaw's plans involve taking the tax revenues of both the school board (cumulatively about $2 million over the 33-year life of the bonds) and the county commission (about $1 million over the life of the bonds).
Penny Tax observes how Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews is helping to chair Borden's election campaign.
"Oh, and wasn't Bill Borden on the Kennesaw Development Authority back then? AND, isn't Borden a real estate attorney, who, as a member of the school board (God forbid) would have influence over real estate transactions that the CCSD would be making?" Penny Tax asks.

I've been posting and haven't seen one yet with my tag...
It's a rag anyway.
If he will be running a Real Estate business (in both Georgia and Alaska), a non-profit organization, and teaching courses at KSU (STILL not public education experience), when will he have time to devote to the Cobb County School Board?
Plus, isn't it just a little odd that KSU would Allow Borden on their faculty to teach law, when he has never actually PRACTICED law?
I can understand your frustration, when you clearly don't have the facts, and your slim truths don't add up with the real truth, its easy then to get frustrated, as you sound. However, I wish I had the time to run for an office, but I don't. I follow the minutes posted online and talk to folks at my hair/nail shop and the feeling is one different then your uniformed hatred conveys. For example, I saw that this "Great leadership in Kennesaw" is working on ways to keep tobacco from our children, businesses that would sell it to minors would face the Courts. This is the only City I know that is working for our kids, when others don't take the time to be concerned about this product hurting or getting to them.
Also, its been posted that Mr. Borden is on the KDA,I understand that Mr. Borden was only on the KDA for less then a month. I guess so much for research on his involvement on something called a PILOT.
This is clearly to me business as usual, gossip before facts, folks barking from the cheap seats and not getting involved except enough to throw stones at the ones that are trying. Something I read once, something about casting the first stone...you and the drones that are bashing everyone with negative and uninformed nonsense might want to think for a second or to...or is that possible for a drone? Instead of bashing everyone, lets hear your plan for success...your ideas, do you necessarily have to tear everyone and everything up to achieve your perfect place? I am listening for your plan...not your usual misplaced venom for your ranting...lets post some ideas on some secret pin named web sites and create this perfect place...I really want ideas from a candidate or an already elected one, not bashing, just simple ideas on how to fix things or improve them, after all isn't that really what we all want?
You're going to vote for Borden because other people are exposing his faults, and you feel that's "negative campaigning".
If it's true, we need to know.
If Mr. Borden has falsified state records, he doesn't deserve to be on our school board.
Be careful about anyone running who has the backing of anyone on the board or Freddie!
You really want to make a statement, "Kennesaw has great leadership" Take your head out of the sand and take your rose colored glasses off. Do some research and ask around maybe your opinion will change. You can't get a honest answer if you ask Kennesaw's great leadership, because they don't know the difference between reality or fantsay. Give me a break, you must be a council member.
1.) Questions abound of Obama's country of birth, and there are questions if Borden is a Georgia or Alaska resident.
2.) Borden is running as a Republican, but supports Obama initiatives of higher taxes and Race to the Top. Hello? Can you say RINO?
3.) Obama appears clueless, and won't return phone calls; Borden knows nothing about education and doesn't reply to the MDJ.
4.) Obama loves to engage in the blame game, accepts no responsibility for anything and makes himself a victim. Borden and his buddies are doing the exact same thing when they claim these articles are appearing because it's his opponent's doing. Notice they aren't saying that any of it is untrue.
Borden's candidacy is Chicago style; the incumbent (Abraham) and predecessor (Searcy), hand-choose their Manchurian replacement who knows nothing about education, so they can control him(Borden), and line him up other minions (Mathews and Allegood), which in and of itself is a conflict of interests.
Looks like Borden is a Chicago kind of guy. It's a sad day when truth and facts are spun as "negative". Then again, I give you Borden.
Who in the world would want such a candidate? Well, let me just ask if I can trade Lynnda Crowder-Eagle for her because if so, I'll take that deal so fast you'll see only a blur.
As for Borden, while I don't know him, I would note the following: First, look at who's backing him and running his campaign (including 2 board members the voters have had enough of - Searcy and Abraham). Second, by his own admission (I have the YouTube video he made), he is a part-time Alaska resident....thought he needed to be a full time GA Resident to run. Third, the last person to give politically correct evasive answers was Lynnda Crowder-Eagle and all we got there was the shoes. Fourth, his answers conflict (see his answer about heads on a platter for withholding info vs. renew the Super's contract). Fifth, he has filed corporate paperwork with 2 states that reflect his home address as Alaska...if so, he SHOULD NOT be running for GA office (if not true, then does that mean he filed inaccurate documents with state authorities?). Sixth, he hasn't been really good about attending F&T meetings, will he do any better with actual school board meetings? Seventh, shouldn't he resign from the F&T committee given his candidacy? Eighth, will he be required to recuse himself from TAD votes given his service on the KDA (the TAD koolaid maker) and the use of TAD-PRO mayors (there's no way he can be ojective given this conflict of interest)? There is no hate or anger or venom in my questions, but the time for leadership and elimination of the never ending rubber stamping of CCSD's every action is NOW! Parents, Teachers, Students and Taxpayers DESERVE and should DEMAND accountable and responsibility and transparency - NONE of which exists currently. When the public speaks, they should not be intimidated or removed from the podium. It is every citizens right to question their officials. I find some of these comments to be typical reactions, that is when the heat in the kitchen is too hot - they make accusations that people are being vitriolic, engaging in personal attacks, resorting to anger, etc. Well, I PAY TAXES & HAVE KIDS IN SCHOOL so these elections are DOUBLY and CRITICALLY IMPORTANT to me. I use my REAL name in my posts because I stand behind what I say and am NOT a COWARD! I am secure in and will EXERCISE and DEFEND my First Amendment rights.
