MARIETTA - Marietta police have arrested an Atlanta man who is suspected of committing a string of armed robberies, including a handful in Cobb County, dating back to May 2009. Authorities are still searching for his suspected accomplice.

Marietta detectives and members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Patrick Frank, 31, on Thursday on Arlington Avenue in Atlanta without incident. He is charged with armed robbery of a Chevron at 811 S. Marietta Parkway on March 23, and has also been charged by Sandy Springs Police with armed robbery of a Chevron in that jurisdiction on March 3. He and another suspect, who remains at large, are suspected of robbing at least eight other convenience stores in the metro Atlanta area.

Frank is being held in Cobb County Jail without bond, charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Lewis said his prior felony conviction was for setting a church on fire. He also has a pending armed robbery charge in Atlanta, Lewis said.

"Frank and the unknown suspect have been doing armed robberies in the metro Atlanta area for a long time," Marietta Det. Gwen Lewis said. "It is huge that Frank is in custody because at some point someone was going to get hurt. We still need to identify the second suspect and we're hoping someone will come forward and help us identify him."

The man being sought is known as Deon and lives in Atlanta, according to authorities. He is described as black, approximately 6-feet to 6-feet-3-inches tall, slim with a dark complexion. Anyone with information should call Det. Arrowood at (770) 794-5371 or the MPD Tipline at (770) 794-6990.
